Prophecy Fulfilled

In 2019, I wrote a political satire titled, “M.A.G.A.- Making America Go Awry”. It was a collection of essays and poems about the chaos of a Trump presidency.

One of the entries was a re-writing of the Pledge of Allegiance under the orange menace. Sadly, what was satire is now a reality as the nation buckles under to the rule of a fascist pig.

The New Pledge of Allegiance

“I pledge allegiance to Donald Trump,

Ruler of what was once the United States of America,

And to the “Make America Great Again” slogan for which he stands.

Although we are a divided nation, no longer under God, split asunder by hatred and bigotry,

We have liberty for all, except Muslims, the LGBT community, immigrants, and anyone he disagrees with,

And we have justice for all, except blacks, Hispanics, women, and reporters.”

Like many people, I do not look forward to the next few years, and can only hope they are not as dire as one might think.
